John Shipley was one of those innovative artists whose vision led to the Two Tone movement.
He founded the Swinging Cats who released the single "Mantovani" / "Away" on the Two Tone label in 1980 and toured with The Specials. John was later invited by Jerry Dammers to join The Special AKA & played guitar on their 1984 album 'In The Studio', co-writing the songs "The Lonely Crowd" and "Night On The Tiles".
"Where's John Barry?" also appears on the Electrik Custard album 'Dyslexic Mustard' released in 2022 on Beat Rebel Records
