Tigermask describes himself as an "artistic recluse, guerrilla poet, secret singer-song writer, producer and multi-instrumenalist - looking for like-minded individuals to hide my accomplishments from.
All the music I’ve written under the Tigermask pseudonym has been about a period in my life where I was housebound - pretty much in complete isolation - with an illness for the best part of 5 years. Which is why I’ve placed a rule on myself that all music released by Tigermask should be a complete solo effort from start to finish in order to be true to the period I’m writing about. So writing, playing all the instruments, producing and engineering everything is a must to me.
My first album, 'Ovum', is the first of 3 concept albums I plan to release telling this story - themes of loss, loneliness, the effects of chronic isolation and being forced to face your “inner demons” - fairly appropriate for the current situation we all find ourselves in...
I’m very influenced by books I read and on my second album, 'Cocoon' (which I hope to release this year), I’ve introduced some more mythic and supernatural elements to the story, akin to some of the common folk or blues myths around doppelgängers and selling your soul to the devil etc... I hope to conclude the trilogy of albums under the title, 'Moth'.
The song "Timeless" (which isn’t on either of my albums) is something I wrote to try and sum up ‘Tigermask’ in a few verses - albeit in a playful and slightly enigmatic type of way - loneliness being a big theme; alter-egos and wearing (figurative) masks in our daily lives and just living through uncertainty and trying to make sense our existence, I guess?
