"Long Time Ago" ("a song of reflection about Coventry on the dole, playing the General Wolfe and Dog and Trumpet") is previously unreleased and so appears exclusively on 'Hot Music Live Presents Volume Eleven' by kind permission of Gdansk.
One of the area's longest running originals bands, Gdansk is built around Danny Cunningham and Barney Cunningham. Danny was guitarist in legendary local punk band Squad alongside 'Hot Music Live Presents Volume Eleven' dedicatee Gus Chambers. Together they formed The Ramrods in 1979: the band later became known as Major 5 and they toured with and supported well known names such as Culture Club, The Pogues, Haircut 100, Sigue Sigue Sputnik and ex- The Jam drummer, Rick Buckler’s band, Time UK. They also feaured in the Coventry Festival in 1984: an event which grew into today's massive Godiva Festival. When Major 5 eventually split, Gdansk took over & continue to play live locally to this day.
