about

Previously released on the ‘Live at All Saints Church’ EP in 2018

Joe Dolman (guitar & vocals) James Burgess (drums), Harry Green (bass guitar & backing vocals), John Connearn (guitar & backing vocals),
Matthew Cotterill (piano & backing vocals), Hannah Woof (backing vocals), Barney Morse-Brown (‘cello) & Ben Heaney (violin)

Joe Dolman is certainly one of those members of the Coventry & Warwickshire musical community whose career & reputation has already burst beyond the confines of our own area. This 23 year old singer songwriter, praised for his relatable lyrics and emotive live performances, has been attracting attention recently from the public more than ever before. His first appearance on the big stage was at Hyde Park back in 2014, since then he has taken his music around not only the UK but overseas also - including festival appearances at Reeperbahn in Hamburg, BBC’s Biggest Weekend, The Great Escape and Wilderness Festival. and house concert tours across America plus a recent national UK tour with Enemy singer/guitarist Tom Clarke.
His shows always sell out rapidly & he is attracting more & more critical praise for his work

“Skilfully crafting songs way beyond his years.” - TMRW Magazine
“An exciting new talent. One to watch!” - Janice Long, BBC Radio 2
"The show he puts on is phenomenal" - BBC Radio 1
“There’s a sense of unforced innocence to his work.” - Clash Music

“As anyone who has followed Joe's music might expect, personal truth and honesty inform the writing & the delivery is appropriately confidential.... he has a very attractive voice which sells the song .... but there is strength in there meaning he can increase power & emotional punch without having to resort to overblown delivery” (Hot Music Live review of the “Drag You Down” single in April 2019)

“...from the rockier end of his repertoire, the track is taut & punchy, driven by virtually every element of the arrangement in turn from the lead vocals to the urgent strumming & snappy massed backing vocals. It arrives, drives it points home & then leaves off once they have been said in a startlingly brisk two & three quarter minutes. There is no room for messing around here.
Yet as I have said, despite the change of pace, the core artistic values of Joe's artistry remain constant: the song is subtly arranged & craftily builds dynamics & as often, the lyrics are a sensitive perspective on aspects of relationships which reek with sincerity” (Hot Music Live review of the “Better By Now” single in November 2019)
