Ellie Gowers, has been quietly brewing her self-penned songs for a while. A regular performer, her music embeds a fierce energy that echoes the 60’s folk revival scene and is one of our local musicians with the fastest growing reputation across the country. Jaws drop on people’s first experience of her live shows and she is held in high regard by music lovers, critics & fellow musicians.
Her songs are built through an early love of literature and traditional folk song as well as the notable observations she makes on the zeitgeist narrative of today’s society. She has just graduated with a First in music and has garnered support slots with critically acclaimed artists up and down the UK, enticing watchers with her poetic lyrics and rhythmic guitar playing.
2017 saw the release of her acoustic EP ‘Robin’ which features a collection of her earlier songs, including the a cappella folk-ballad, “Robin”. She followed this in Autumn 2018 with the release of two singles and her debut, full-band EP ‘From Here On Out’. Success followed with BBC Bristol Radio having her as their Artist of the Week as well as support from BBC Introducing.
Alongside smaller, local festivals, Ellie has also been on the bill for some of the bigger ones including Looe (Songs from the Shed stage), Godiva and Shrewsbury Folk Festival. She has also performed both headline and support slots at venues such as The Big Comfy Bookshop (Coventry), The Louisiana & The Fleece (Bristol), Gylly Beach Cafe (Cornwall), and The B-Bar (Plymouth). Support slots have included notable artists like Jack Rutter, Mawkin, Sam Kelly, Elephant Sessions, and Greg Russell.

“Ellie Gowers is one of our area's most talked about & admired artists (by audiences & fellow musicians) & one whose star is waxing greatly.... (she) delivers songs of considerable complexity and depth of tone: they are extraordinarily well crafted & then delivered” (Hot Music Live review March 2019)
